The past couple months have been busy for me. I did some racing and then took a subsequent 2 week break from training to rest up before training starts again. While I enjoyed the break from training, I had to deal with the death of my Grandpa as well. He passed away a couple weeks ago unexpectedly. We were very close and spent quite a lot of time together. He was my personal hero and I looked up to him in every way. He grew up rural Iowa and was a farmer his whole life, even when he was suffering from cancer. He embodied the tough-as-nails Iowa spirit that I hold so dear. He never met a person who wasn't a friend and treated everyone that way. I know he's in a better place now, probably fishing, playing cards, talking about the weather, or checking out the crops. He was a great man.
