A couple weeks ago I saw a movie that was truly corny on Minneapolis' THIS tv station. It was called In Search of Golden Sky. The storyline follows a mountain man who was given custody of his nieces and nephews. He flees into the wilderness with them to avoid the kids going to an orphanage. They are subsequently chased by vigilantes. Here is a trailer. If you do anything today, anything, watch this trailer. It says it all!
I'd also like to point out the movie ad. There's a lot going on here. The first thing I notice is the old man clicking his heels in joy. Seeing the raccoon on the boy's shoulder is truly realistic. If you've ever been around a 'coon, you know they don't like sitting on one's shoulder wile you're on a bear's back. Also, the girl on the left seems to be running in a completely different direction than her family. The untamed absurdity of this movie poster makes it the best of all time in my opinion.
Lately I've been doing quite a bit of running. My awesome coach, Dennis Barker, has been 'barking' orders to up the mileage to marathon level. When I run marathon mileage I get tired and hungry all the time, so it's appropriate that I've written this blog just after taking a nap and eating an early lunch. While I'm not preparing for a marathon, the higher mileage is a good way for me to focus on the task at hand and to build a large base for spring racing. Next up is the Gate River Run 15k in Jacksonville, FL. It's a USATF Championship. Not only is it a great race to run, but the people hosting the race are top-notch. Race day is March 12th.
This past Sunday I learned once again the truth is stranger than fiction. Trent Reznor won an Oscar at the Academy Awards for scoring the Social Network. Some of you probably have no idea who Trent Reznor is. He is the founder and singer of Nine Inch Nails, a seminal electronic/rock band. This is the equivalent of giving Snoop Dogg an Oscar.
Three 6 Mafia has an Oscar.
ReplyDeleteWow. That's all I gotta say.
ReplyDeleteI see nothing wrong with Trent Reznor getting an Oscar.
